Third Take is a weblog about home recording. The focus is mainly on PC-based DAWs, software, and recording techniques.
I’ve been experimenting with home recording since getting a Fostex 4-track in 1998. I upgraded to a Yamaha MD-8, and finallly to a DAW, running first Cakewalk Home Studio 2, and then Sonar 5. I’ve recorded music demos and produced sound effects, and an entire sound track, for live theatre.
I buy most of my gear online, and I’m a big fan of Zzounds. I’ve been shopping with them since 2000, and they’ve always treated me right.
