Toontrack Drumtracker
Evidently, they’ve been busy at Toontrack. Yesterday they announced a standalone host program for EZ Drummer and Superior. Today they announced a new product called Drumtracker, an audio-to-midi converter so you can do drum hit replacement like Drumagog. After Drumtracker launches in January 2008, Toontrack products will cover every aspect of sample-based drum production.
If you recorded a drum kit, for example, and didn’t like the kick, you could use Drumtracker to change the kick track into MIDI triggers. Then play the MIDI track back through EZ Drummer to trigger the kick drum of your favorite EZX.
From the Drumtracker announcement:
Drumtracker is a host independent, stand-alone, multi-track audio to MIDI converter software for sound replacement. It is Toontracks third release in a series of sampler periferal products that started with the release of EZplayer Free earlier in 2007 and the announcement of Toontrack Solo this week.
Drumtracker gives you manual control over tracking and exporting and lets you select which part or parts of a drum track that you want to export, down each single hit.
Each triggering point is graphically represented and you can set max/min velocity and threshold values for each instrument and articulation. Drumtracker allows you to export all drums to one single MIDI file or as separate MIDI files and to choose between different output MIDI mappings adapted for your favorite drum sampler format.
Unlike Toontrack Solo, I don’t think this is going to be a free download for registered users. Price is still TBA.
